Porsche Works Reunion 2015
This was the second annual event at the Rancho Canada Golf Club on Carmel Valley Road during the August "Car Week" on California's Monterey Peninsula. This year had several improvements, as one would expect, over the inaugural event. The biggest improvement was the spectator parking. However there appeared to be still some confusion as many cars was parked out on the highway, a bit dangerous, and a long walk to the show. The road side parking had many Porsche cars so something could be improved on. Maybe better signage and directions for 2016.
Porsche Works Reunion was created and run by The Porsche Club of America as a one-make car gathering featuring Porsche cars. 2015 saw over 700 cars on the field. One of the main supporters of the Porsche Works Reunion was Michelin Tires, the supplier of the OEM Porsche tires.
There were 20 judged categories giving the gathering much to enjoy.
The area was much more spread out this year with on-lawn-parking for the spectators. This writer really finds it very disheartening to spend days before these great car events, cleaning ones specialty car for making an entrance into the wonderful world of the 'Best Cars in the World' only to be directed off into some dusty dirt parking lot. So Thank you... Thank you PCA for providing nice green lawn spectator parking for my nice shiny Porsche.
There were several booths displaying and selling PCA and Porsche items as well as food venders and a large tent with seating. The Porsches were really spread out and one had to take note as to where to go to next.
Like last year there were storyboards noting the uniqueness of the cars and lead to the fullest understanding cars on the field.
Porsche Works Reunion competes with the other Monterey "Car Week" events that over lap and over flow each day, so gathering 700+ cars on Friday is a fantastic achievement for PCA and gives its members a 'personal' place for their fanatic cars.
