Porsche Works Reunion 2014
Porsche Works Reunion was created and run by The Porsche Club of America. The 2014 inaugural event was a new one-make car gathering featuring Porsche cars.
The setting was at the Rancho Canada Golf Club on Carmel Valley Road during the "Car Week" on California's Monterey Peninsula. PCA broke off from being co-host to the Legends of the Autobahn to create this special Porsche only event. This first year reported 500 Porsches on the field. I know there were more than that as Porsches were all over the place.
The show was very laid back with many cars being judged. But for the most part the day was about having a look at each other's cars and conversations. What I liked were the special displays of Porsche racecars. Having the storyboards noting the uniqueness of the cars completed the effect.
One of the main supporters of the Porsche Works Reunion was Michelin Tires, the supplier of the OEM Porsche tires and they had set up a booth with informed, helpful representatives. In front of the booth were a Porsche GT and a Porsche 918. A very nice presentation to the Porsche faithful.
However what this writer, Porsche owner and Porsche Works Reunion attendee found very disappointing was, Porsche Cars North America, Inc committed a Porsche 919, 24hr Le Mans car to a non Porsche event on this same day just up the road from the PCA Works Reunion and gathering of the Porsche Faithful.
